Shenzhen Virtual University Park, a strategic & innovative move by the Municipal Government of Shenzhen intended for vigorous development of High & New Tech Industry, is located in the south section of Shenzhen High and New Technology Industry Development Zone on bank of the beautiful Shenzhen Bay. As one of the important support system for High & New Tech Industry, Shenzhen Virtual University Park commits to ensure the supplies of talents and techniques for sustainable development of Shenzhen so as to make effective contributions and double wins to both parties of Shenzhen City and the member universities under the effective environment of Shenzhen with the Park-entered members¡¯ effective resources and talents.
The Virtual University Park was founded on Sep 10,1999 with the Joint-Congress as its decision-making mechanism and the municipal mayor as its president with members coverage from university-level heads to functional bureau leaders in the city government. The Administration Service Center of the Shenzhen Virtual University Park is the work implementation agency with responsibilities for talents training and education of various forms and levels, as well as for assistance to transformations and industrializations of the scientific and technological fruits from the Park-entered universities together with daily maintenance to building establishments and facilities in the Virtual University Park.
There are 48 Park-entered organizations and 18 network members in the Virtual University Park. The former includes 35 famous domestic universities as Tsinghua University, Peking University and Harbin Industry University etc. together with activity bases for academicians from both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and five universities from Hong Kong as The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, and University of Hong Kong as well as Lyon Central Polytechnic University of France (L'Ecole Centrale de Lyon de France) .
Four Platforms are gradually formed in the Virtual University Park in reliance upon the resources from the Park-entered universities and academic agencies.

In August 2003, Shenzhen Virtual University Park was granted as: ¡°National University Park for Science and Technology¡± by China¡¯s Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education. This National University Park is a High-tech Park Zone in dependence upon Shenzhen Virtual University Park which combines several tens of universities¡¯ Shenzhen-based research institutes as Shenzhen-based Research Institute of Tsinghua University, PKU-HKUST Shenzhen-Hongkong Industry-Education-Research Institution (SHIERI) and Shenzhen International Innovation Institute assisted by financial investment agencies and medium brokers etc in Shenzhen. The occupied lands for industrialization in the University Park for Science and Technology cover areas of 226.1 thousands sqm. with a total building area of 224.3 thousands sqm.
National University Park for Science and Technology of Shenzhen Virtual University Park would be a gathering of concerted styles of apartment buildings constructed by self-financing of the Park-entry universities and/or financings from the government and society, it would be an new model of University Park for Science and Technology with beautiful environment, convenient traffics, perfect infrastructure facilities and relaxed business environment as well as internationalized administration operations and modern life services.
